About the starving Artist
Who, What, When, Where, and Why
Maybe a little how too.
Who -
Artist Jacob Molina, is mister Art & a Maze. He wears a monocle and a top hat while sporting a Dali inspired mustache most days (Not really, he is a normal attractive guy. The fanciness of the articles are only mentioned to match the mister.) He currently hopes to get the title of Sir as he serves his artly knighthood time.
What -
Molina creates Maze based art. It is meant to be looked at first as a whole art piece and not as a maze. Not until you examine the art piece further are you supposed to notice the maze.
When -
Art has always been a piece of Molina's life, he has always enjoyed puzzles too. The art first started when Molina worked as a Route setter for a rock climbing gym. Here he crafted interactive puzzles to be solved by climbing. Most had an aesthetic value but it was more about the puzzle solving that he found appealing. A rock climber himself he enjoyed the process of figuring out the problem, it gave him satisfaction. More importantly he relished others attempts (the joy, frustration, bewilderment, and accomplishment). When rock climbing was no long as prevalent in his life he chose to seek other forms of creativity. That is where the merger of creating an appealing art piece that is also a maze began in 2023.
Where -
South Carolina is where Molina currently occupies as he goes to school to get a Doctorates of Chiropractics. Although, the Dr is not the same titling of as Sir, it sure does a nice ring to it.
Why -
Art and a Maze, do they go together? To Molina, they do. His style makes the art less about the maze itself and more about the art piece. The maze is the primary but seems to come in as the secondary component in most pieces. The theme of mazes come from his enjoyment of puzzles and makes his art unique and interactive. He finds it a challenge to make each piece a maze and gets just as much joy creating them as solving them.
